PE Reflexion

Hello world, this is me logging in to post my final blog as a Japanese 101 student. Let us begin: Overall, I am quite happy with the goals I set in the beginning of the year and my follow-through to achieve those goals. I got a decent amount of sleep every night (haha at least for a college student), which I think positively influenced my stress and happiness levels. I noticed when I was getting more sleep, I am more attentive in class and I participate more often, which I think is making me learn better.   In terms of going to office hours, there were some weeks that I went to only once, and some weeks that I went twice. Many of the times, I didn't have a plan on what to do during the office hours. This did not end up being a problem though because I would work on exercises with the professors that I ended up needing practice with. For example, I would work on dict-a-conversations quite a bit. I was actually surprised that I didn't watch as much anim...

Piko Taro's Rise to Fame

Image
こんにちわ みなさん、 I'm sure we all know this familiar face: However, I don't think we know much about him. Everyone, this is Kazuhito Kosaka ( 古坂和仁), better known as Daimaou Kosaka ( 古坂大魔王) and Pikotaro ( ピコ太郎) (as seen in the Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen video). He is a 43 year-old Japanese comedian with impeccable fashion sense, and we are all happy for him and his rise to fame world-wide.  見てください、he even got a whole choir to sing with him! What?! I personally find this ridiculous (and kind of well done actually lol). By the way, he released a second single, portraying his love for orange juice, shown below:  aaaand, if y'all are still interested, here are more of Mr. Daimaou Kosaka's work:  "The Theme Song of Pikotaro," "The Romita Hashinikov," "Kashite Kudasaiyo," "Neo Sunglasses," "PPAP vs. Axel F." Oh Japan, you never cease to interest me, 大好きですよ <3 [not-so-reliable] Source: http...

PE7: Reflecting on my Speaking Goalz

Image
Okay, so my oral midterm was not too bad, but it did not turn out as well as I thought... I mainly messed up with particles and even totally forgot some vocab. However, in the written work that I've done, it shows that I do know my grammar as well as my vocabulary. When I talked to my teachers about this, we concluded that I was too nervous for the test, and that I need to practice my speaking more often. Looking back at my previous post about speaking goals, I now know to make a few changes (and will make these changes right after I publish this post):   - Instead of going to office hours once every two weeks, I will go to office hours at least once a week, twice a week if possible. It is important to do this since I am unable to go to the Mathey College language table every Tuesday (darn you, fencing practice). I am going to keep the rest of my goals there, because I think they are still reasonable yet challenging to attain. For example, I am actually quite shocked at ho...

Self-Introduction

Speaking Goalz

I am as desperate to speak Japanese well as Chihiro is desperate to eat this onigiri. So what are the steps I should take for me to get there? Well, I am planning to:   -Go to office hours at least once a week (twice a week would be optimal): this is so I can ask  questions not only about pronunciation and intonation, but about reading, writing and checking up as well. I need to do this because I am unavailable to go to our weekly language table that provides valuable listening and speaking practice.   -I'm gonna watch some anime! That shouldn't be too hard haha. But this time I'll focus on shadowing the characters I admire and want to sound like.   -Finally, I'm gonna try to sleep well. It may seem like an indirect method to speaking well, but if you have a good nights rest, you can show up to Japanese class with open eyes and ears to get the best learning experience possible. I want to absorb as much knowledge as I can! Watch out guys, I'm gonna so flu...
